Murray and I spent time together at the Borland Meadow near Miocene along the Horsefly Road in the mid-1970s. Murray was the commune's resident song writer in those days and had the prettiest girlfriend. All young idealists striving for the "good way" back to nature respecting Mother Earth, we enjoyed wonderful times and adventures together then.

Our paths diverged in 1977 when I headed west to the wilderness to pursue my personal quest of getting lost in the wildest country I could find. Murray meanwhile headed north to Quesnel and Dragon Lake where he has lived out his dream farming, horse logging, raising his two boys and playing music.

There is something strong and vital still there amongst this idealist collective consciousness.    ~Sage Birchwater
